Building a Security Array: Operational Security Procedures

Operational security procedures constitute the primary tool used by the security manager of an organization/company to determine security methods and procedures. Operational security procedures define routine and emergency missions in detail and constitute the basis of the work performed by security teams. Operational security procedures are also used as a means of inspecting the performance of security arrays.

Writing operational security procedures includes the examination of threats and the organization's needs and objectives, based on which a security plan is designed to facilitate the management of organizational tasks and maximize the protection of workers and visitors at the site.

The National Security Unit's Security Consultation Department offers specialist, tailored solutions to prevent and manage a wide arc of threats (such as terrorist attacks and criminal acts).

Operational security procedures are based on seven principles set by the national guiding authority (Israel Police) to meet the unique requirements of each organization/company.

The Security Consultation Department's specialists design a security array and formulate the proper operational security procedures for every organization/company. This process includes the following:

  • Mapping of threats and risks
  • Examination of current procedures
  • Definition of gaps
  • Definition of security policies
  • Analysis and selection of solutions that include technological and

non-technological measures

  • Training of security personnel
  • Application and management of the entire process
