Surveillance and Observation

Surveillance and observation are the tools that organizations/companies use to follow up on processes or identify exceptional events. By using surveillance and observation techniques wisely, organizations/companies can gain an advantage when confronted by internal and external challenges.

The National Security Unit's Instruction and Training Department delivers tailored workshops and seminars that comprise basic and advanced training in the field of surveillance and observation.

These workshops and seminars include field exercises and simulations, exercises that enhance decision making, and final qualification exercises. Training and instruction sessions in this field cover a wide variety of topics, including:

  • Introduction to surveillance and undercover operations
  • Gathering field intelligence and familiarity with the field
  • Preparations before going to the field
  • Creating a cover story, self confidence
  • Identifying the object
  • Legal aspects of monitoring/surveillance
  • Choosing observation posts: the same/random post
  • Surveillance by foot: alone or as a team
    • Surveillance-related dilemmas:
    • Surveillance by one person: identification methods, posts, surveillance methods
    • Surveillance by a team: work methods for surveillance teams (surveillance fundamentals), problems in teamwork, different formations.
    • Surveillance by a team with a vehicle: fundamentals of surveillance by car.
  • Photography and electronic equipment: using hidden equipment, hiding the equipment, field cameras, using hidden cameras and tape recorders, legal aspects.
