Security Doctrines
A security doctrine comprises the professional knowledge and principles from which security operational activities are derived. The National Security Unit has years of experience in the field of security and in security-related activities, based on which it writes security doctrines for its customers as part of the services it has to offer. The unit’s specialists analyze the customer's needs and objectives, based on which the doctrine is written. Writing security doctrines encompasses a wide variety of activities, including:
  • Security in facilities: the facility-security doctrine includes guidelines that pertain to facilities and their security. This doctrine relates to armed and unarmed security personnel, bomb searches, physical security using a variety of technological measures, crowd and visitor screening, data protection within the facility, management of exceptional events, and emergency responses.
  • Public-transportation security: the public-transportation-security doctrine comprises guidelines that pertain to securing large crowds, crowd screening, bomb searches, securing parked transportation vehicles, armed and unarmed security personnel, and security on the move.
  • Security in shopping centers: the doctrine of security in shopping centers includes guidelines that pertain to security in open-air centers and malls. This doctrine relates to armed and unarmed security personnel, physical security, crowd screening, securing large crowds, and emergency responses.
  • Security in educational institutes: this doctrine follows several guidelines pertaining to security in state schools, universities, and colleges. This doctrine relates to armed and unarmed security personnel, physical security using a variety of technological measures, securing large crowds, bomb searches, visitor screening, and emergency responses.
  • Airport and seaport security: the doctrine of airport and seaport security comprises guidelines pertaining to security in these facilities. This doctrine outlines the security measures around the port, crowd screening, armed and unarmed security forces, securing large crowds, anti-sabotage sweeps, and emergency responses.
  • Ship security: the ship-security doctrine comprises the principles pertaining to securing mooring and sailing ships. This doctrine relates to armed and unarmed security personnel onboard the ship, screening of people boarding the ship, inspection of cargo, anti-sabotage sweeps, and emergency procedures regarding mooring and sailing ships.
  • Security in hotels: the field of hotel security is unique for being primarily affected by local work environments. As the hotel is accessible to the wide public, public territories constitute a part of the hotel premises serving its commercial interests by attracting an audience as large as possible. This poses a significant security challenge. The terrorist attack at Park Hotel in Netanya in the spring of 2002 (during the Passover Seder) is one of the most horrific events in the history of the State of Israel; it demonstrated more than anything else the true need for effective and professional security arrays in hotels to guarantee the safety of hotel guests and employees.
  • The National Security Unit's Instruction and Training Department operates a sub-department that specializes in security in hotels with the support of the Israel Hotel Association. The department offers a wide variety of services based on years of experience, especially in training hotel security officers as part of courses for security managers under the guidance of the Israel Police.
  • The National Security Unit offers a unique training program on security and safety for security-department personnel and hotel employees. This program underscores the importance of readiness and prompt responses to emergencies and security threats. The ability to combine technological measures (closed-circuit television systems, inspection stations, alarm systems) with professional and trained personnel is the optimal solution to security threats. The National Security Unit's professionals deliver workshops and seminars that are intended to enhance the performance of security arrays by facilitating the utilization of manpower resources and technology as best as possible.
  • VIP protection: VIP protection is a professional security doctrine that comprises a variety of security methods, which are intended to guaranteeing the client's safety. VIP protection comprises several principles that are based on different professional security doctrines, such as: security in permanent facilities, security in temporary facilities, security during events, and security on the move. Familiarity with different security doctrines and their integration into an effective method requires unique skills such as analyzing the client's routine activities and verifying that the method is suitable to this routine. VIP protection is characterized by challenges that change constantly according to the client's activities and requirements. Creating an effective VIP-security array requires top operational capabilities combined with constant up-to-date assessments, ingenuity, and quick responses.
  • The National Security Unit's Instruction and Training Department creates a tailored program for every customer to teach field security guards VIP-protection methods as best as possible in a way that enables the application of these methods in various security tasks. The National Security Unit's specialists work side by side with the customer to guarantee the operation of a professional, effective, and flexible VIP-protection array to take on any security challenge.
